I'm open to it. But right now only wardens are assigned. And all they do is sit and monitor. What would you bring to the role?

She'll stop walking entirely now, putting every once of her attention on Lark, as opposed to just seventy-five percent of it.]

Well. I'd do a lot more than that, that's for sure. I'd interview suspects - you know, like you interview victims! I have some interrogation experience, and I think I could really hone it here. If there were multiple suspects for a single case, or even if the suspect was still at large, I could also do investigative work at the scene of the crime and narrow down the suspect pool. Zero work shouldn't only be confined to Zero, right?

[He's amused but also taking her seriously. This? Could be a good match with one or two of his ideas.]

Who have you interrogated before? I thought you worked in a nursing home.

I also kidnapped someone.

[She admits this easily, without an ounce of hesitation or remorse.]

She was stalking my friends, and I thought she was a danger to them, so I sedated her and tied her up in my basement.

And how did you interrogate her?

[She hesitates a little - knowing that this next bit might be a dealbreaker if she doesn't play her cards right.]

Well, I could adjust my methods a little here.

[Nope, answering this one can't be optional.] How did you interrogate her, Misty?

Ugh, fine, I threatened her dad, but I wouldn't have to do that here.

Why did she believe your threats about her dad?

[citizendetective]

[Her brows knit together, just for a moment, before they smooth out again. He's underestimating me, she thinks. Nothing new there.]

Well... unlike you, I think she could probably tell that I meant it.

That's not what I asked.

What were you prepared to do to her dad, and what had you already done that made her believe you?

Do you really need all these details that aren't even going to be relevant here? Like I said, I'd totally use a different approach in Zero; you wouldn't need to worry about this.

I didn't say I wanted you to use a different method. You haven't told me what your method actually is yet. Threats don't mean anything without teeth behind them.

So if you really want me to help you get a job, answer the question.

[She huffs, crossing her arms and pouting a little.]

I injected fentanyl into a box of chocolates in front of her, told her all this information I'd found out about her dad online - like the address of his retirement home and the name of one of his nurses - and told her that if she didn't tell me what I wanted to know, I'd send it to him. With her name on the return address label.

But hey, if you want me to use those methods on suspects in Zero...

Have you tried any other methods? How do I know you'd be able to do anything softer than that?

I could softball it. I could, um, take the good cop approach. Or-- ooh! I could pretend to be a sympathetic fellow inmate who's infiltrating Zero to screw over the Admiral. None of the Zero wardens could do that.

Here's what I want from you.

When something happens, I interrogate both sides. Because I'm a warden and because I have a reputation, sometimes I get enough information and sometimes I don't. I want you to do follow-ups, see what you can learn that I don't.

What's your reputation?

That I'm an asshole. [He is. He doesn't particularly care.]

You don't seem like that big of an asshole...

I try not to be. But some things have to get done, and some people don't want them done or don't like how I do them, so... [A shrug.]

I think you and I could make a good team.
