What are "wrong reasons"? He's no saint. He didn't expect you to be.

He just has some theories about why I'm here, that's all, and I'm assuming they're related to why he's so against me working in the infirmary or Zero. I'd rather not get into it.

You don't have to go into detail, but if you want me to help convince Pagan to let you, when you're ready, it would help if I knew what obstacles there are.

The fact that you know that with what I am pretty sure is firsthand knowledge is why he doesn't want you in there.

Maybe. I do tend to think people have motivations that they don't.

But there are things you aren't telling me, and it's not helping your case.

Tell me why you're so interested in medicine, and you've already told me it's because you worked--unethically--with it before. Tell me why you want to do it here, but dig deep. We have healers, we have doctors. Why would they need you?

I'm interested because I like to help people. They'd need me because they... might need more help? There are a lot of attacks here, Lark.

[But, okay; he's said dig deep. She can do that. Taking a breath, she stops walking again, and continues.]

I really like helping people. It just feels like... the role in life that suits me the best. I like being of use.

Good. I like that. And I hope you can find some satisfaction in helping people another way, with me. It's important, too, it just doesn't involve as much blood.

But it's less important. I mean, the stakes are lower.

Oh, I mean-- I wasn't discounting your plan. I like your plan! I want to help with that. I was just thinking of when people are like "But custodial is helping, too!"
