She's had all of two. Sypha was the first: I told her to give her her powers back and she listened. The newest is B, who runs the vet clinic here. He's a good man, kind of an idiot. I think he's barely going to make an impression on her.

I wouldn't underestimate him. B is subtle. Loyal and willing to do whatever it takes for people he cares about, but he's a soft touch with his inmates. He's clever but we all have strategies that only work with certain people--and I'm not just talking about wardens.

Because he likes dogs!

Trevor, if you really want to cut your dog's balls off, have Alec do it. But why would you?

My dog doesn’t have balls!

But Zack’s does. And she’s getting friendly with him.

I'm pretty sure pregnancies can't happen here. That or everyone has been extremely lucky. Anyway if it needs to happen, Alec is still a good bet.

...Did I ever tell you about the time I was almost neutered?

I had to hide out in a dog shelter. Most dog shelters automatically spay and neuter the animals coming in; this one didn't. I chose it because it didn't.

Then I got adopted by a lady who took me to a vet for my shots and exam. They discussed it, ah, at length. I was this close to losing them.

You would choose castration over revealing yourself and running away?

Oh God no. I would have run, then gone deeper into hiding. I lost my pack, my home, my cars--I wasn't going to give up my balls, too.

You lost your pack?

[ukan]

My lieutenant turned on me. He killed everyone loyal to me while I was out of town.

I’m sorry. That’s fucked.

It was. But the first thing I did after graduation was kill him and build a new pack. A healthier one--we're more of a family than I ever was with the old one.

You didn't resurrect the old one?

[ukan]

I don't...trust the Admiral to resurrect people.

I barely trust that he's saved Alec.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't trust him to do what he says.

I try to keep it quiet. No reason to argue with desperate people about the deals they make.
