I've had pets before. Family dogs and cats. And a very angry tortoise, once.

How is a prison ship good for a pet anyway? Someone I don't like is just going to kill it soon as they see I've got one.

Actually I don't think we've ever had pets murdered here. There's an honor code or else everyone just secretly loves them.

Animals are highly adaptable. They don't expect anything but food, water, a place to sleep, a place to shit, and affection. They don't hate being here the way the rest of us do, they just want to be with someone who cares about them. If you're able to care about this puppy, I think you should keep it.

It'll be easier to train than the tortoise.

One of my fingers still has bite marks from that tortoise.

And, fuck, really? That's one of the most uplifting things I've ever heard. Usually the dogs are the first things to be killed when you're trying to get at the man they're defending.

What happens to it if I go? If I disappear, will it die?

I don't know for certain. Sometimes the animals go with. Usually they stay here and hopefully someone else takes them in.

I was going to feed her whatever I was eating that she'd like, but all right.

Try that and see if she puts on weight. [It might not matter what dogs eat here, perhaps they'll just stay healthy regardless.] Canines need nutrients that... Never mind. Just let me know if you have trouble.
