No. Notes on every incident, on anyone involved, whether they've been here years or a few hours, warden or inmate, victim or perpetrator. That way we know everyone who was there, what they had to do with it, when it happened, what was going on around the Barge at the time.

And how the incident was resolved.

[ Zack settles back in his chair. ]

Might as well start with this mess as a trial run, yeah?

[ A soft huff of frustration before he nods. ]

Yes, and it'll help us come up with the form. Believe me, if we don't ask for certain things, they'll slip away. Obviously, we can't make anyone do anything, but setting a baseline isn't a poor choice.

[ A sigh as he runs a hand through his hair, ruffling it a little.]

But, what I was getting at is: should we make an effort to identify and provide a little detail, or, if we have it, more than a little detail, so that no one walks into things blind? Not 'only' but, as a part of?

Yes. We should make every effort to give a full picture. In this case, that Sephiroth showed restraint, and that Trevor was overly reactive. Twice.

Honestly, if people just drop in 'Joe fought with Bill' and leave it at that, it's an improvement over the nothing that is being done now. But if we can set a precedent for investigation and showing good faith for both parties involved, maybe we can keep things rolling.

Yeah, it's important to know who did what so there's some context. With repeat offenders, it's especially good to have so then you can document patterns.

[ A pause, then- ]

I think it's a good idea to have files too, like the one I gave you [ he nods at Jon ], but we can come back to that another time.

I meant more to keep a copy of past postings. An archive, if you would.

[ His tone is very wry as he says the last. ]

As for the reports, my presence will actually make them more complete but there's plenty of people here who'd rather eat their own shoes than be around me. So I'll at least contribute the form.

We do need an archive. [A wry smile] Zack is the best hope for this getting off the ground. Plenty of people will go against anything I propose no matter what it is.

[ There is...an awkward pause. ]

[ Jon wobbles a hand. ]

There'll be questions as to the purpose and many of the wardens will feel it'll be used to undermine them, individually or as a group. He's not wrong that you'd be the better spokesperson.

[ There's a glance between Lark and Zack. ]

I've mostly angered inmates of late. I'm probably somewhat safe. The only one around among the wardens who can't stand me these days is Fives, I think.

I piss off people on both sides of the aisle. [He nods at Zack] You think you can do the spokesman portion?

[ Zack is silent for a moment before letting out a sigh. ]

Well, it goes right along with an idea I already had so...sure. I'll handle that bit.

[ Jon's glad that's been dealt with, certainly, but there is, uh- ]

Speaking of incidents, where did you stash Trevor anyway? We know where one party is; where's the other?

He's in my cabin. [Probably will be for a little while longer, but he's easy to find if not, and Lark is going to drag him to the infirmary if he can.]

So now that you know what Trevor told me, and we have Sephiroth's side, we need to talk aftermath.

I explained to Trevor why killing Sephiroth a hundred times will only endanger people. I told him to look at other avenues for containment, nonviolent means. He was open to the idea; I think he even preferred the challenge of it to arming himself and going to war.

But they're going to fight again. I don't think anyone here is naive enough to think this is the end of it.

Sephiroth is contained. The fact that he doesn’t have his powers here is the best defense anybody has, and that’s born out by the fact that a man who tried to destroy an entire planet hasn’t done a damn thing the entire time he’s been here.

There was even some dumbass on the network a few weeks ago who tried to goad him into a fight, and he flat out turned it down.

The problem isn’t Sephiroth right now. It’s whether or not Trevor can get it in his damn head that attacking people here — and I mean ANYBODY who reminds him of the monsters he fought back home — isn’t going to fly.

That said, no one's gone so far as to attack him before. And he has mentioned to me that killing someone over and over again would be a... and I quote 'joy' to him.

[ A nod towards Zack. ]

But as he wasn't the aggressor, that should be secondary to the one who keeps jumping people.

[ He waves a hand absently at Zack. ]

Don't you know something about his whole, er, 'thing'? He was tied up with your inmate, wasn't he?

No, I agree, and I want that to be clear. I'm advocating for Trevor but he was wrong, and Sephiroth was in the right here. [And he likes Trevor, but he actually does care about Sephiroth--and his progress--more than he likes to say. It's probably premature but he feels a little flicker of hope at how restrained Sephiroth's response was.

Granted he is absolutely sure there will be some revenge sought. That's going to be a fucking mess.]

What I'm saying is that there are mitigating factors here. He's aware of why he's doing what he's doing, and we can work with that. Confinement and punishment are only going to strengthen Trevor's resolve that he is right. Maybe the best route is just to have a handful of wardens with him at all times. He's friends with Adrian, we could tap him in.

[ Well, that’s an angle he wasn’t thinking of before, but then he also hadn’t automatically made the connection that Trevor’s last name was Belmont.

Zack huffs a little. ]

Dracula isn’t an inmate anymore, but yeah, they have some history. Which is probably also going to turn into a problem at some point.

[ He turns his gaze on Lark. ]

And I never said anything about imprisonment. But if we’re going to do these incident reports and make them public to everyone, there needs to be some kind of standard here. Across the board. I sat on John Seed for weeks — not because of the uproar over the Bliss shit but because he pulled a shiv on somebody. Extenuating circumstances or not, violence against other people on this ship is not okay. Period. And if there’s going to be less action for an incident where blood was actually drawn with my name on it, that’s where I’m going to have a problem. So yeah, pull in Adrian and whoever else we need to sit on his ass, but he needs to know this isn’t okay and that if he does this again, he’s going to have bigger problems than he does right now.

[ Jon looks between the two and he breathes in deep and breathes out slow. ]

The only point I have to add here is that we shouldn't rely purely on Adrian. Both because it reeks of allowing cronyism and because because if Adrian is asked to step in, it could alienate him from his standing allies.

[ A pause. ]

I do agree with both of you, however: Trevor's behavior warrants more than a slap on the wrist.

[ He gives Lark a very solid look. ]

If it's enough for you to be upset at me about, it's not 'nothing' and it needs a response.

[ A glance at Zack. ]

Though there is the issue of alienating him from the very process. Which is very likely if bloody Dracula just graduated. [ Beat. ] Which I had no idea about. Congratulations. Well done! Did I miss a post or something?

I disagree about it alienating him, if he's only one small part. I'm going to be taking lead in de-escalation. Adrian and whoever else we tag in are just there to take some pressure off and keep him from feeling too confined.

[ Zack shakes his head. ]

He told me he was going to tell a few people, but he didn’t want to make a fuss about it. So I didn’t say anything either.

[ He gave Dracula all the accolades and congratulations in private instead.

He looks at Lark. ]

That’s fine. And if you need someone to tag in with him who can actually wrestle his dumb ass to the ground, call me.

As far as Sephiroth goes [ he nods at John ] I know he says shit like it’d be fun to kill someone over and over again, but there would have to be a level of obsession rivaling his thing with Cloud for him to focus on one person and do that. I don’t think Sephiroth is there with Trevor or that he ever will be — but we definitely need to keep them away from each other. As much as we can.

[ Jon can't help a small eyeroll at Lark. They're well past anything close to an actual conflict, but he's still a touch huffy. ]

That was exactly what I meant, you know. We just don't want to make Adrian the 'bad guy' here. Or 'bad cop'. That's how you use that, isn't it?

[ A glance to Zack. ]

That was the feeling I got as well. After all, he was rather cross with me until we kept talking and I think we've reached some sort of tolerance at this point.

[ Beat. ]

Though if you'd be willing to keep an ear out when I head over there, I would appreciate it. I do still have that alert with me, after all. N-not that I'm planning on being annoying or frustrating, but we do have a tendency to bang heads a bit.

I'll check in with him, too.

How soon do you think we could have that incident report form working?

Once I've checked on Mr. Sephiroth, it shouldn't take me long.

I've already got a pretty good idea of how I'd like to put it together.
