"If you think that would stop her I think you're grossly underestimating her. The woman is tenacious." He folds the curtains as Trevor takes them down. "Did she meet your kid?"
"No, you're not, and I'm putting those fucking curtains back up," he says over his shoulder. "When you're the zero warden, you can redecorate to your fucking heart's content!"
"We wouldn't be here bothering the shit out of you if you did your fucking job before she riled half the ship!" he calls at Pagan, annoyed, before putting the tea set back.
"Leave the front curtains off," Lark says. "We really don't need inmates thinking we're hiding things down here, and if they can't see in it won't matter what we tell them."
Lark has never been sentimental, and isn't even sure how to be sensitive around the idea of it. He bites back the same irritation he sees on Trevor. "You're likeable. Even if you are an asshole."
"I'm not doing that, Lark," he sings out. "You asked and got an answer. They can also use their fucking words like big kids and there won't be as much speculation. Now get out of Zero, please!"
He glances at Lark. Then, silently, as if in agreement, he takes the front-facing curtains up underneath his cloak to hide. Because fuck you, Pagan, don't talk to Lark like that when he's making a point Trevor agrees with.
"All right, we're leaving!" he yells back during his covert move. The rest of the curtains can be left in a pile. "Christ, can't even make a quick trip to the dungeons without getting scolded."

Trevor finishes the curtains, then comes to investigate the tea set. Fucking tea again.
"She's obsessed with my happiness or lack thereof. Are we taking this too?"

"She must like you."

He puts his feet up on the desk.
"Some fucking investigation."

To Lark, he says;
"She likes everyone."

He opens his book to read it again.

"Good night, Pagan."
And to Trevor: "Come back to 101 with me and I'll tell you the rest of what I know."
no subject
"Sure."
