I'm guessing Daniel's gonna have a lot more folk looking to make violence on him than that. And I'm not saying he doesn't deserve it. I just wanna know if wardens are hands off about inmate violence. If not, just let yours know that's not how it's supposed to work. If it is, I appreciate the clarification for my edification.
For my part, and Trevor's, things are settled. Trevor might have been justified in going after more, but he didn't and he won't. An eye for an eye felt like too much violence to him, so a punch in the face and some stolen shoes settled that score. I'm not here to turn Trevor into a pacifist or into someone who hands over his moral compass to someone else, so if you're wondering if I'm going to punish him for hitting Daniel one time in the face, no. He feels the debt is paid and I'm happy he did it without torture or murder. He won't be harming or terrorizing Daniel any further.
As much as I hate Daniel right now, I'm not interested in him being murdered every time he turns a corner. Wardens are, unfortunately, just as weak and fallible as anyone else. I don't expect other wardens to do anything, even if I think they should. Some of them are going to hide away or bury their heads in the sand and pretend we didn't just go through a week where we were all made to torture each other, and some of them are going to turn a blind eye. I won't do either.
I'm not fit to help Daniel navigate this. But I'll be doing my best to keep Daniel alive and in one piece. I'll even ask Trevor to help me break up any violence he sees toward Daniel. I'll also try to support the wardens who do step up to help Daniel.
Does that seem fair to you or do you feel something more should be done?
Not asking you about Daniel or Trevor. Don't much give a shit about this case in particular. I want to know what the Rules are. Wardens or inmates or whoever's breaking them, fine. But if I'm here holding myself to a fucking standard that doesn't exist for no fucking reason, I rather know so I can do more of what I want without having to worry if I shouldn't be.
[Sweeney sounds displeased with the change to audio.]
None of yer fuckin' business if it is. Just should get to know how shit is s'pposed ta work here. Folk here may not have a code of honor, but I sure as fuck do.
It's relevant to my answer. I know you have your own code, and wardens don't dictate it to you. That means you're leagues ahead of most of the other inmates and, hell, most of the wardens, too.
If you're asking if you are allowed to lash out like the other inmates, then honestly, Sweeney? Yes. You're free to do all the things the others do. The only one who decides what you're comfortable doing is you. There are no hard and fast laws. I'm trying to get some rules in place but it's slow going. You might get punished if you kill someone. You might not. I have no idea why it's so arbitrary, it's not about popularity the way some people claim, and it's fucking stupid.
If it happens on my watch and you don't have a warden, then I'll try to advocate or find someone who will. But that means consequences just as much as it means I'll throw myself in front of a mob.

Thought the warden did the deciding of punishment for their inmate.

What do you want me to do?

audio; private
Are wardens the only reason you've been holding yourself to that standard?

[Sweeney's affect is even, just smooth casual conversation before he promptly hangs up. He got the answer he needed, no need to drag shit out.]
